Things You Need To Do When You Ran Out Of Gas

Safety First

Vehicles that suffered from any damages or issues should be parked away from the road. You should find a way to pull it over so that it will not become a road hazard.

Depending on the situation, you might need to step away from the vehicle. A stuck driver is a target of many vile individuals, including robbers and assaulters. You should do this if you are in an unfamiliar area, and the sun is already setting down.

If the area is deemed safe, you can switch on the hazard lights of your car. They can help other drivers indicate that you are in distress or immobilized. The good about these hazard lights is that they remain visible, even during day time.

To park your car to safety, put it in a neutral first. Make sure that it is safe to leave. If everything is already clear, step out at the side of the driver seat and push your vehicle to the side of the road or any section where it is free to park. Grip the steering wheel and make sure that it is heading to your intended direction. Once you are safe, engage the emergency brake and hazard lights.

Know Where You Are

The second thing that you need to do is to pinpoint your location. You can’t call for help if you do not know where you are in the first place. Being able to determine your current placement will help you assess if there are gas stations nearby.

So what’s your choice here. If you have an old-school but updated map of your route, then you are quite safe. Even without internet or cellular connections, maps can help you navigate your way. Also, it would really be great if you can find road signs that could give you some clue.

If you are fortunate enough that there are available lines of communication, you can check your location through apps like Waze and other related traffic apps. These mobile applications have updated maps of many routes in the world. Their accuracy is reliable, too.

Of course, it is imperative that you have downloaded any of these apps on your phone. In this way, you will be able to access their service as quickly as possible.
